Economic Director of the Year Award

Title: Economic Director
Company: City of East Point

As Director for the Department of Economic Development – City of East Point, Maceo Rogers is
responsible for managing all facets of the day-to-day operations. Maceo has a proven track record of
executive management and over 25 years of business recruitment and job creation experience. He’s
responsible for executing economic development strategies that grow the City’s tax base and enhance
the quality of life for citizens. He works closely with Aerotropolis Atlanta Alliance in coordinating and integrating economic development projects/programs that’s beneficial to the airport area. Prior to joining the City of East Point, he led the marketing and recruitment efforts of the Development Authority of Fulton County. ​

Rogers is a board of trustee member of Andrew College, member of the Georgia Economic Developers
Association (GEDA); former two-term board member of GEDA; former Georgia State Alliance Co-
Chair of International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC); member of the International Economic
Development Council (IEDC); former board member of VSA Arts of Georgia; and former board
member of the Continuing and Corporate Education Advisory Board of Georgia Perimeter College
(now Georgia State University – Clarkston Campus). ​

Before getting into project management, Rogers was a computer graphics designer involved with
interactive video technology. He programmed interactive economic development presentations for
utility companies. Rogers has a BFA Degree in Visual Communications from the Atlanta College of
Art (now Savannah College of Art and Design -SCAD), he is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD)
in Economic Development and a graduate of Leadership DeKalb & the Regional Leadership Institute.​
